Kitgum High Court Criminal Session Kicks Off

A High Court Criminal Session kicked off in Kitgum where 50 cases are going to be handled.
The Session kicked-off this morning with a pre-session meeting attended by different justice actors and members of the public.
Hon. Justice Phillip Willebrord Mwaka called on members of the public to cooperate with justice institutions for the success of the session. He re-laid of the current statistics Kitgum high court and pledged to do his best to see that there is reduction in case backlog. He therefore urged the other justice actors to corporate.
Out of the 50 cases to be handled during the month-long session; 21 cases are for Murder, 20 files are in respect of Defilement while five (5) files are Aggravated Robbery cases.
The other cases to be handled are Rape (3) three and one (1) Treason.
The Court's Deputy Registrar; HW Aisia Suzanne Musooli said the session has 41 adults and nine (9)juveniles who are going to undergo trial.
